Preschool Classes
Preschool Gymnastics: Casual Drop In
Our casual drop in classes are unstructured play time where the child is encouraged to explore all of the equipment with parental supervision. Our coach will also be on site for guidance and support if needed. Cost is $7.00 payable by Eft-Pos at the gym.
Preschool Gymnastics: 2-5 years
The club offers a number of classes which are either 2 - 5 years or 3 - 5 years. During the 2- 5 years classes the child is accompanied by their parents and work through gymnastics circuits under the guidance of one of our experienced coaches. The gymnastics circuits are designed to improve strength, balance and co-ordination, while also helping to develop gross motor skills. The child progress through our preschool badge programme, earning their badges as their gymnastics ability increases.
In the 3 - 5 year classes the children are independent in following along as one of our coaches guides them through exciting circuits which are designed to teach basic gymnastics skills on each apparatus. Children in this class develop the gymnastics ability they need for the higher difficult end-level of our preschool badge programme, allowing for a very rewarding and exciting term!

Invitation Only Classes:
There are some classes at Capital Gymnastics that are invitation only, this is due to the level of commitment required for the safety of the child, when events are held, as well as programme requirements. If you have any questions please just ask at the office.
EXCEL Gymnastics - Invitation only
Formerly known as "Rec Comp," these classes are for gymnasts who show an invested interest in gymnastics and would like the opportunity to represent our club at recreational competitions throughout Wellington and the upper South Island. The programme offers a similar environment to our national competitive programme, but without having to commit the time associated to the competitive classes. The class focus is to learn routines for the competitions throughout the year, as well as upgrading their skills to progress to higher levels of competition. The children in this programme must attend 1-2 classes per week and training continues throughout the year. Gymnasts follow the Gymnastics New Zealand recreational competitive programme and compete against other gymnasts from similar programmes from different clubs.
Pre-Competitive Gymnastics - Invitation only
Pre-competitive gymnastics classes are for children aiming to join competitive gymnastics. Classes are based on learning basic shape and movement patterns in preparation for competitive gymnasts.
Note: Enrolment is by invitation only. Please contact the office for more information.

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) consists of six apparatus: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.

Sports Tramp - Invitation only
This is an invite only class for children who show some aptitude for trampolining. They will work on the same booklets from the levels class, with the addition of accelerated progress within this group.
After working in a sports tramp class for a while, children may be considered for the competitive tramp squad and therefore this class is a good start on that pathway.
