Below is a brief description of the different types of gymnastics classes Capital GymSports offers:
Preschool
This 8 level programme is designed to be fun while developing fundamental movement patterns. The focus is on balance, spatial and body awareness, hand-eye, body-eye coordination, grip strength and basic manipulative skills. Each child receives a participation certificate and a badge if certain skills levels are achieved. Parent or guardian participation is required for the 2-3 year old and optional for the 3-4.5 year old classes in this programme. When you are participating, please encourage your child to partake to their fullest in every aspect of the circuit.
The Preschool Plus classes prepare the older children for the transition to recreation classes (and therefore parents are not on the floor). Children need to be ready to participate and come onto the floor without a parent. If they are not yet at this stage, they are welcome to stay in the parent participation (3 - 4.5 year old) class for a further term.
While we encourage you to bring other siblings to weekday (during school-time) classes, and we are comfortable with them being on the floor with you, we wish to maintain the quality of learning for the members enrolled in each class, so we do ask you to keep siblings separate from the structured activities. Unfortunately during Saturday classes and during all 3:30 Preschool Plus classes, for Health and Safety reasons, we cannot have any siblings on the floor due to the sheer number of gymnasts on the floor.
Classes cost $120 per term ($130 for Saturday classes).
